How Long Does my Chin or Hamster Live?

If cared for properly chinchillas can live up to 20+ years. Hamsters normally live for 2 years but if you take good care of it, it might even live as long as Goldie!(4 years)
Why Does my Pet sleep all Day?
Chinchillas and hamsters are nocturnal, being they sleep during the day and play at night!
Where Should I Keep My Pet's Cage?
It is best if you keep the animal's cage in a quiet place during the day. But it shouldn't be in the room that you sleep. Chins and hammies make a lot of noise at night!
Help! My Female Hamster Stinks!
Female hamsters have a strong odor to them. It will never go away. I think the hamster is trying to find a mate. Thats what the Vet said about our rabbit. (DONT'T BREED HAMSTERS, THERES TOO MANY THAT NEED WONDERFUL HOMES)
Can I Bathe my Chinchilla in Water?
No, NO, and No. Bathing your chin in water will damage its coat. Use chinchilla commercial dust in your local pet store.
Can I walk my Chin or Hammie on a Leash?
I doubt it. I tried many different harnesses on Chinchi but they don't work. Its so hard to put it on him. When we had the hamsters we bought a collar for them. That also didn't work.
Can I Get a Giant Hamster Wheel for my Chin?
Yes! But I don't think it'll last long if its plastic. I bought one for Chinchi and he chewed it. Never buy the metal ones with the long pole on the side. When the chinchilla or hamster gets out when the wheel is still moving, it could chop its head off.
Can I Potty Train my Chinchilla and Hamster?
Yes and No. Hamsters can be potty trained if you take the time. Chinchillas....well I don't think you can. Maybe some people can. But its hard. Chinchillas will just poop and pee anywhere they want!
Can I Train my Chinchilla or Hamster?
Yes and No. It is possible to train a chin but it takes alot of time and patience. I trained Chinchi to touch his nose on command. Hamsters..I don't think you can triain. I tried training Goldie but I had no Luck.
My Chinchilla/Hamster's teeth are Overgrown! What do I do?
Take the animal to a vet immediately.
Is a Metal Cage Better for my Hamster or a Plastic Cage?
Metal cages are alot better. With plastic cages, your hamster can escape and get a possible injury.
What Kind of Commercial Treats are Best?
Simple, if you have any doubts on the treat, don't buy it. Read the ingredients, if you can't pronouce them or don't know what they are, don't buy it. Always check the expiration date and ask your vet too just to be in the safe side.
Can I give my Pet Physical Exams at the Vet?
Of course! Im not sure how much an exam would cost for a hamster but a chinchilla exam is about and well worth it. In the mail, there are coupons for vets that give a free complimentary exam. Call first to make sure the free exam qualifies for chinchillas and/or hamsters. Most don't but its worth a try!
